SUPPORTING OUR YOUTH 2024
New Beginnings CDC had the great opportunity of collaborating with Building Blocks Community Initiative, a community organization like our own that empowers community members with resources that bridge gaps. Our team was able to encourage and support the youth in district 4 by providing 100 backpacks filled with school supplies as well as a monetary donation to support the activities for youth who attended the event. What a great way to end the summer and begin the school year!
Happy Health Hour Initiative
The very first Happy Hour for New Beginnings CDC offered health screening and resources. Participants were able to interact with RNs who measured blood pressure and blood glucose readings, as well as weight and BMI readings. Participants also received health resources.
The Foreclosure Deadline for 2024 is March 31st
Volunteers of New Beginnings CDC went door to door to share resources that may help residents avoid foreclosure associated with delinquent property taxes. If you are a homeowner with delinquent taxes get help now.

Space to Place
New Beginnings CDC is excited about the transformation of Sasser Park in 2023. After 4 years of advocating for change, we finally see the results. What was once a space with limited use is now a place where families can connect, recreate, and enjoy healthy activities. Now that the park has been reimagined, we are excited about all of the impactful activities and programming that is yet to come. Our team has been committed to the Moross-Morang Neighborhood since 2009 and we will continue to show up, speak up, and step up to promote equity and wellbeing, and provide service commensurate with the needs of the community. We hope that we can count on the community residents, leadership, and stakeholders to support positive change in our community's narrative.
NATIONAL OLDER AMERICANS MONTH 2023
New Beginnings CDC supported National Older Americans Month by hosting a Meet and Greet on May 6th for the senior adults in our community. It was a pleasure to acknowledge the contributions, past and present, of the older community members. We were honored to host an event for seniors to connect and enjoy good food, good fellowship, and essential resources.

In May 2023, New Beginnings CDC had the opportunity to make a difference at our local school (Carleton Elementary). We started the month appreciating the teachers as we recognize that
they play a significant role in helping to enrich and transform the lives of students. We also
facilitated access to Detroit Tigers Tickets for the staff, students, and family members –
providing a fellowship opportunity to create bonds that build family and community.
New Beginnings CDC hosted the Morang Small Business Resource Fair on April 3, 2023 in collaboration with Yorkshire Woods Community Organization, and Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC) District 4 Liaison. Businesses along the Morang corridor were offered an overview of local resources available to entrepreneurs and small businesses while also providing them with a casual networking opportunity to meet with local leaders and non-profits.
